Upcoming Projects: Viral Marketing - Music Campaign

As a musician I have been producing my own songs for a while now. I drive inspiration from moments and feelings, and of course from other songs.

Given that K-Pop has become such a widespread phenomenon, I have started to listen to their songs through exposure on social media. Since one of their songs stood especially out to me, I have decided to take that song (in this case the vocals) and spin it in my own way.

The group’s name is BTS. They have broken several records around the world, and have become known outside of South Korea.

Their breakthrough internationally is especially derived from the active contribution of their fan base, called A.R.M.Y. What is so interesting about this, is that this fanbase is engaging in vast dimensions. They support the group through the internet, acting as advocates, translators and promoters in general. With giants like Instagram, YouTube and Reddit they have shared their enthusiasm and sparked a vivid discussion about the band.

I have been following those developments for a month now and have decided to test this active online presence for my musical ambitions:

Since only a few unofficial remixes exist, I have taken this as an opportunity for myself to share my composition online in all those active channels using my knowledge of digital marketing, advertising and communication techniques.

I will listen first, to understand where they are especially active.

I will analyse how I can frame a story around my song and message that with the fanbase.

I will execute vigorously on all channels fast – also engaging with the fanbase as well.

Ultimately, I want to test out how far such talk with a “brand” community will go, and seeing how successful such campaign is so that I can learn from this experience for future endeavours in my personal musical life as well as for work.

I will outline the different steps of my strategy soon and will update any results.
